Welcome to Northwind Sound!

This website is, as always, a work in progress...

Northwind Sound is a small (er, make that "tiny") recording studio located in Guelph, Ontario, and is wholly Canadian owned and operated. Cool, huh? No foreign corporate monoliths here! It is owned by Chris Mills, who is the president, CEO, vice-president, main engineer and producer, composer, resident gear-head and everything else besides. In fact, he's the only employee, which makes it dead easy for him to take the day off whenever he wants.

Northwind was formed way back in 1988 from the debris of an ill-fated venture called Homegrown Sound (you can probably figure out from the name why it was "ill-fated"), and has produced jingles for local radio stations and artists from the local independent media arts centre Ed Video, as well as commissioned work for Sault Ste Marie Anishnabe artist Peter Maqua, authors and photographers Gary and Joanie McGuffin, Algoma Central Corporation, local author and raconteur Blain Bovee, Toronto-based Native drum group Eagleheart, and various bed tracks for Holborne Distributing CDs and tapes (purveyors of the "Solitudes" line of CDs, among others).

Northwind went into hibernation for a while, but has emerged, blinking in the sunlight, ready to tackle new and even better projects. For a somewhat more complete list of the stuff produced at Northwind Sound up to now, click the "Projects" link, below.
